‘I’m a comic book nerd’: ‘I was just trying to be funny’

Graphic novel writer and graphic artist Joe Pirozzi was born and raised in Chicago.

Now he lives and works in the city.

“I’m an illustrator,” Pirozzini says.

When I first started drawing, I was a little bit of a geek.”

“My family’s a comic fan and I always wanted to draw,” he says.

Pirozini got his first exposure to comics in high school, when he worked for the comic book retailer The Bookshop in Chicago’s Little Village neighbourhood.

“That was the first time I’d ever seen a comic in a store, but I just loved it,” Pairozzi says.

His first foray into comics came in college, when his roommate gave him a copy of the comic Black Widow and he drew a scene in which Widow kills the Black Widow.

“He said, ‘I think you should get that one,'” Pirozi recalls.

“It was just amazing to me.

It was just something so different, and I think it was just an idea I had.”

His passion for comic books eventually led to work as a comic artist on the popular television series, The Wire.

He’s also been featured in a number of other comic book projects, including a short story in the graphic novel The Way of Kings, and a book with the writer Jonathan Franzen.

Pairozini says he started drawing comic books when he could, but “never had any idea how big the market would grow.”

But that’s not to say he hasn’t had a fair share of success.

Pirazzi has been nominated for a Hugo Award and a Nebula Award for his work on The Wire, as well as the prestigious Image Award for best graphic novel.

And he has been awarded the Image Award, which is the highest honour in comics.

In his current project, he has a special message for comic book fans everywhere.

“The way I see it, you’re in a comic books business that’s a little different to a newspaper, because it’s a print-on-demand business, whereas a newspaper can have a print run, and they’re going to do it in order to sell newspapers,” he explains.

“But, the way it works with comics is it’s not just a paper, it’s like a subscription, you have to buy it to keep going, and you can’t stop it.

You have to go on it, and that’s why you see so many people on Twitter saying they have a subscription.”

Pirazzini’s next project, The Last Hero, is set in the world of The Walking Dead comic book.

“This is not a show, it is not an action series, it has to do with the aftermath of a war,” he tells Al Jazeera.

“There’s not a lot of detail in the book, and it’s just about a young girl who goes on a mission, and the journey is really hard.

It’s about trying to understand the world, and all of the people that you meet, and dealing with that stuff, and trying to live through it.”

Prorzzini has a message for the industry in general: “The industry is going through a time of upheaval right now.

People are looking for jobs and are trying to find ways to get out of poverty, and so you can imagine how they’re feeling right now.”

And it’s this kind of work that makes Pirozza an attractive candidate to comics fans.

“We’ve got the internet and social media and we can make art with those tools,” he continues.

“A lot of people are struggling right now, and now is the time to step up and be creative.”
