A new $1 million salary can be yours if you’re the best designer in your field, but it will require work from other talent.
The only way to get one is to get a top graphic designer for $5 million, according to a new article in the New York Times.
There’s only one way to do it, which is by hiring the best talent available.
The idea is to hire top designers, and then train them to work in your business, the Times reported.
Here are five tips for getting the most out of your career.
Don’t get too comfortable with being a graphic designer.
“There is a lot of work, and you can learn a lot, but if you feel comfortable doing the work, you won’t be able to learn,” Andrew T. Johnson, a marketing executive and a former senior executive at Adobe, told the Times.
“If you get comfortable with doing it and you know what you’re doing, you’ll be fine.”
The best advice?
“You’re not going to be happy with just being a designer.
You need to be a master in your craft.”
Work in teams.
If you don’t have a good team, you can’t do the work.
“It’s not like you’re an artist.
You’re not a cartoonist.
You don’t know what’s going to work for you,” John S. Darnell, a former designer at Apple, told CNBC.
“You need to have a team.
You have to have some people who know each other.
Be flexible. “

“When I first started, I had the feeling that I wasn’t doing enough, and I didn’t have the resources to do the best work I could,” Johnson said.
“But if you think about it, I could have spent the last two or three years doing it all myself, and that’s because I had a team of people who could help me.
I have a lot more time to spend with my team.
It’s the same for every designer.”
Know your niche.
“We’re not all going to love everything.
You want to do your own thing.
You do a different job.
You get creative,” Johnson continued.
“I’ve never worked on anything for free, and if I do that, I’m not a designer.”
Get the right people.
“Designers should be very careful what they want.
We want them to be creative, but we want them not to make a ton of money,” Johnson added.
Don ‘t hire people who already have the chops.
“No, we shouldn’t hire anyone who already has the chops,” Johnson concluded.
“People who have been doing it for years, if they want to work here, they better be willing to do that.”
The Times article said that the median salary for a designer in the United States was $69,000, but there is no data on how much a top designer makes.
“A lot of the talent that you hire is going to get really, very good, but not everyone can make it,” Johnson explained.
Don’ t hire people with a history of getting paid less.
“Don’t hire people that have been paid less in the last three years than they were making,” Johnson suggested.
Don “t hire freelancers.”
“Don”t hire somebody who has been working for free in their industry for years,” Johnson warned.
Don”t pay a lot for it.
“Pay what you can.
If it’s free, you’re better off,” Johnson emphasized.
The Times also pointed out that the minimum wage in New York state is $8.55 per hour.

“Nobody is asking for a million dollars,” Johnson noted.
This is not your typical, two-year, three-year contract,” Johnson urged.
